The Volgograd Regional Prosecutor's Office approved the indictment in the criminal case of police officers Alexander Sorokin and Vladimir Gubanov, as well as their former colleague Oleg Deev, who were convicted of systematic bribes from the owners of retail outlets at the market.
The regional prosecutor's office reports that inspectors of the department for organizing the application of administrative legislation of the department for organizing the protection of public order and interaction with public authorities of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia are accused of paragraph "a" part 5 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receipt of a bribe by a group of persons by prior conspiracy for illegal inaction in favor of the persons represented by the bribe-giver).
O. Deev is also charged with Part 2 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (mediation in bribery for committing a knowingly illegal inaction).
“After delivery of copies of the indictment to the accused, the criminal case will be sent by the regional prosecutor’s office to the Voroshilovsky District Court for consideration on the merits,” the statement says.
Earlier it was reported that criminal activity was suppressed by the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the region in cooperation with the operational services of the regional departments of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
According to the investigation, two police officers and their former colleague demanded money from a representative of the Afghan community in the city of Volgograd, promising in return not to conduct inspections of Afghan entrepreneurs trading at the market in the Traktorozavodsky district.
The foreigner paid 15 thousand rubles, but law enforcement officers demanded that such contributions be made monthly.
On November 7, 2012, upon receiving the next part of the bribe, the suspects were detained by officers of the FSB Directorate and the Internal Security Directorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
