In the city of Kineshma, Ivanovo region, as a result of a collision between a car and a truck, three people were killed and two more were hospitalized, the press service of the traffic police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the region reported on Wednesday.
“The day before, on Bakha Street, a 43-year-old woman, driving a VAZ-21114, drove into oncoming traffic and collided with a MAZ driven by a 31-year-old driver moving in the opposite direction,” the report says.
As a result, three women born in 1981, who were in the back seat of a car, died on the spot.
Another passenger, a 24-year-old girl, and the female driver were hospitalized in the Kineshma district hospital with fractures, closed head injuries and a concussion.
According to the traffic police, the MAZ driver was sober. The woman who drove the VAZ had her blood taken for testing.
The acting head of the traffic police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the region, Dmitry Kosterin, reported in his microblog on Twitter that the VAZ driver lost control, presumably due to exceeding the speed limit.
He noted that, according to preliminary information, the participants in the accident were on their way to the funeral of their friend and were late. A female driver of a passenger car has one year of driving experience.
