The stadium for the 2018 World Cup in Samara will become the core of a modern sports complex and a new microdistrict
The implementation of a stadium and microdistrict project in Samara for the 2018 FIFA World Cup will become a new standard for the living environment, says Nikolai Merkushkin, Governor of the Samara Region.
“Completing design work is the most important stage of preparation for the 2018 World Cup. We proceed from the fact that the stadium should become a decoration, the pride of Samara - both as an architectural object and as a sports facility. The main requirement for the arena is maximum functionality and compliance with international standards,” — the governor is quoted as saying in a message from the regional government’s press service.
N. Merkushkin noted that the stadium will become the center of a whole complex of structures, including sports facilities, hotels, exhibition complexes, parking lots and a conference hall for holding events significant for the city and region.
“A modern microdistrict with social housing will be built here. Thus, this territory will be in demand even after the world championship. We will create a qualitatively new living environment, a new level of comfort for residents and guests of the metropolis, to which we will bring other districts of Samara, other municipal education of the region,” the governor emphasized.
As reported, the authorities of the Samara region moved the construction site of the stadium for the 2018 World Cup from the spout of the Samara and Volga rivers in the village of Radio Center to a working area of the city, based on issues of economy and practicality. The cost of construction was reduced by 10 billion rubles - to 13.5 billion rubles.
Initially, the cost of the contract for designing the construction of the stadium was 1.3 billion rubles, but at the initiative of the authorities, the amount was reduced to 860 million rubles.
On January 10, 2013, the state unitary enterprise TerrNIIgrazhdanproekt was recognized as the winner of the competition to carry out design work on the construction of a stadium for the 2018 World Cup in Samara.
The maximum price of the state contract for designing the construction of the stadium was 860.4 million rubles; State Unitary Enterprise TerrNIIgrazhdanprokt offered 835.5 million rubles. The institute must design a stadium with an estimated cost of 13 billion 522 million rubles.
According to the terms of reference, the winning company of the competition will have to develop a stadium project for the 2018 World Cup with a total capacity of 45 thousand people and associated infrastructure based on FIFA requirements.
The total area of the construction site is 27 hectares, the building area must be determined during the design. The project should include parking lots, checkpoints, one or two helipads, elevators for the disabled and freight elevators for rescuers. The project should also provide for the dismantling of part of the stands and the reduction of seats to 35 thousand for the further use of the stadium after the championship.
