Big post about the Oscars

The Oscar nominations were announced today. Many accuse the film awards of being predictable. This is true, for example, last year I guessed all 8 main nominations. It was the same thing the year before. But this time everything is much more interesting. :-)

Best film of the year .

1. Operation Argo
2. Zero visibility 30
3. Life of Pi
4. Lincoln
5. Les Miserables
6. Love
7. Beasts of the Wild South
8. Collection of rays of hope
9. Django Unchained

Everything is very, very uncertain here. The unexpected absence of the "Master". Honestly, I'm a big fan of Argo; I think it's a very worthy film. But his competitors are strong, and I can’t predict exactly how everything will turn out. Basically, one of the first 5 films will win here. Let's leave the award for best foreign film to "Love", but the rest have no chance. Perhaps the presentation of the Producers Guild Awards will clarify a lot, although there is no need to rely heavily on them. I doubt Kathryn Bigelow will be able to pull off her stunt with The Hurt Locker. The Academy does not like self-repetition, history tells us this.

Best Director of the Year .

The biggest surprise awaited us here. The fact that Tarantino is not there is still understandable, but the absence of Affleck and Bigelow is too much. In general, it rarely happens that the nominees for the Directors Guild Award and the Oscar are so different. Let me remind you, the Guild's choice: Ben Affleck - Argo, Kathryn Bigelow - Zero Visibility 30, Steven Spielberg - Lincoln, Tom Hooper - Les Miserables, Ang Lee - Life of Pi. That is only 2 out of five. Let's look at the rest.

David Russell - I don't know how many academic dicks this guy sucked to get all the best nominations for his shitty movie A Collection of Rays of Hope. (I'm joking, of course. The film is not bad, I just don't like unfunny films about *banned people.)

Ben Zeitlin is a hitherto unknown director with his film Beasts of the Wild South. Together with Haneke's Love, the Film Academy seems to want to show its internationality and connection with world cinema. After all, these 2 films are triumphs at the Cannes Film Festival. They are trying in vain, because Bigelow’s new film, a cousin of “The Hurt Locker,” betrays political influence on the award. I must say, it's not bad.

In my opinion, the favorites are Haneke and Spielberg. The first - because the Academy loved his film so much. And the second one is just a genius, Spielberg is almost always a favorite. Maybe Ang Lee will shoot too. I'm not sure here yet.

Now about the actors. I love actors. :-)

Best Actor of the Year.

3. Joaquin Phoenix - Master
4. Denzel Washington - Flight
5. Hugh Jackman - Les Miserables

I'm glad to have Joaquin. I've been rooting for his victory since the very first trailer for "The Master". I think it will happen, it will be very fair to reward him.

Best Actress of the Year.

1. Jessica Chastain - Zero Visibility 30
2. Naomi Watts - The Impossible
3. Jennifer Lawrence - Collection of Rays of Hope
4. Emmanuelle Riva - Love
5. Quinzan Wallis - Beasts of the Wild South

Everything was obvious here a long time ago. :-) Jessica has been working towards this triumph for a long time, and this year she will rightly receive the award. This is truly the best actress of the year.

Best Supporting Actor.

2. Robert De Niro - Collection of Rays of Hope
3. Philip Seymour Hoffman - Master
4. Tommy Lee Jones - Lincoln
5. Christoph Waltz - Django Unchained

The most incomprehensible nomination this year. I don't even dare to guess. In reality, in my opinion, no one deserves an award. This happens. The Golden Globes will clarify everything.

Best Supporting Actress.

3. Anne Hathaway - Les Miserables
4. Helen Hunt - Surrogate
5. Jacki Weaver - Collection of rays of hope

When I saw this, I was offended to the core. What Jacki Weaver is doing here is completely unclear, with all due respect to her. In Granny's place there should be the magnificent Nicole Kidman with the film "The Paperboy", and it was she who should have won the award. Apparently, David Russell sucked for the entire film crew.

Best Original Screenplay of the Year .

1. Michael Haneke - Love

3. John Gatins - Flight
4. Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola - Moonrise Kingdom
5. Mark Boal - Zero Visibility 30

I love Moonrise Kingdom, but I don't think they'll win an award. :-(
Most likely 1 or 5 will win.

Best Adapted Screenplay of the Year.

2. Lucy Alibar and Ben Zeitlin - Beasts of the Wild South
3. David Magee - Life of Pi
4. Tony Kushner - Lincoln
5. David O. Russell - A Collection of Rays of Hope

Don't even know. Of course, I support Argo, but I have doubts about how everything will turn out in reality. My bets are on 1, 2, 5.

Best animated feature film of the year.

1. Brave
2. Frankenweenie
3. Paranorman, or How to Tame a Zombie
4. Pirates! Gang of Losers
5. Ralph

In general, I don’t care about cartoons. I only watched “Pirates,” so I’ll be rooting for them, although “Brave” or “Wreck-It Ralph” will probably win.

Best foreign language film of the year.

1. Love
2. Royal romance
3. Witch of War
4. Kon-Tiki
5. No

I don't care either. The only thing that disappoints is the absence of the wonderful film "The Untouchables", also known as "1+1". I would root for him. And so he will take “Love”, but I’m not sure.

The rest: I’m rooting for the best song in Skyfall, for the best makeup and hair styling for “The Hobbit” (and “Hitchcock” will take it). I would like to write a lot more about the other nominations, but I’m too lazy. I have already said the main thing. :-)
