
In Lviv, at 83 of his life, after a long illness, Mikhail Goryn died - a famous Ukrainian dissident, human rights activist and political prisoner of the times of the late USSR. This was reported by UNIAN.
Goryn was born on June 17, 1930 in the village of Kniselo, Lviv region. His father led the rural "Privnit" and the regional organization of the OUN, for which he was repressed by the Polish power. In December 1944, Mikhail, together with his mother, was deported by Soviet power to Siberia, but on the way to exile, they managed to flee and legalize in the Lviv region. From 1949 to 1955, Goryn studied at the department of the logic and philosophy of Lviv University.
He actively participated in the dissident movement since the 60s. Together with Ivan Svetlichny, Ivan Dziuba, Ivan Drach and others, he organized the spread of political literature and samizdat published abroad. In August 1965 he was arrested on charges of "anti -Soviet agitation and propaganda." Convicted to 6 years in maximum security camps. He was serving his punishment in Mordovia.
He was released in 1971, and in August in 1978, together with Vyacheslav Chornovil, he resumed the Ukrainian Herald magazine, which was started to publish in 1970. He actively participated in the activities of the Ukrainian Helsinki group created in 1976.
In 1981, Mikhail Goryn was again arrested for communications with UHG and sentenced to 10 years in prison and 5 years of exile. He served a link in the Perm region. In 1987, Mikhail Goryn was amnestied and immediately took up political activities in the territory of the Ukrainian SSR. In September 1989, Goryn, along with Chernivol and other Ukrainian dissidents, creates the first opposition party to the CPSU in Ukraine - the folk ruh of Ukraine.
In 1990, he was elected as a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR, worked in the commission on sovereignty, headed the commission of national minorities. In the same year he organized a “chain of unity” between Kyiv and Lviv. Goryn is considered one of the authors of the declaration on the proclamation of independence of Ukraine.
From the spring of 1992 to the fall of 1995, Goryn was the chairman and one of the founders of the Ukrainian Republican Party. In 1997, Goryn and his like -minded people created the Republican Christian Party, in which he took the post of head of the editorial commission. In this post, Mikhail Goryn was to death.
