A prisoner died in a Chelyabinsk colony from poisoning with an unknown substance

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee and the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Chelyabinsk Region are investigating the circumstances of the death of the convict in colony N8, the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia reported on Monday.

According to the department, the prisoner, sentenced to 3.5 years for robbery, was found in cell No. 6 by a junior inspector of the unit late last Saturday evening in an unconscious state. The resuscitation measures carried out by the paramedic on duty did not produce results, and the convict died.

During the inspection of the scene of the incident, which was carried out by an investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the Chelyabinsk Region and a forensic expert, the preliminary cause of death was named as intoxication with an unknown substance.
