Reflections on the wisdom of the Lindermans

An article recently appeared by Vladimir Linderman, leader of the party “For the Native Language!” (Dawn!), under the declarative, manifesto heading “I reject this “wisdom” (here in blogs). I made some notes in the margins of this article, and I offer them to you. One of the thoughts about what Linderman wrote can be expressed in the phrase - “They are more are not encrypted." Let's go through it in order, paragraph by paragraph.

“There is a common opinion that the activity of the party “For the Native Language!” stimulates reciprocal activity on the opposite flank - the nationalist one. Hence the conclusion is drawn that our activity is harmful. They say, there is no need to “tease the geese,” etc.”

Why does it happen - that’s how it is. And even more than that - both opposite flanks successfully “stimulate” each other! (LH-1 * ) The game of referendums, at the instigation of Latvian nationalists, went according to the steep schedule of the fighters “for the Russians.” During the language "hysteria", the Latvian Nazis gathered a very impressive column of young people for a torchlight procession on Independence Day on November 18...much larger than the year before. But this is not the only conclusion about harmful activity...

“I reject this “wisdom”, which in fact is not wisdom at all, but cowardice. Fear of facing the truth. Reluctance to see life as it really is.”

Seeing oneself as the ultimate truth, of course, is not forbidden to anyone, there are even places where they willingly agree with the status of “Napoleons”... The accusation that sounds like a refrain in the article, of some immorality, cowardice, always discourages political opponents in their native ranks from opening their mouths. Either agree with Linderman, or become known as a “coward” and acquire other epithets generously bestowed upon him by his fellow party members. Easy manipulation and no political culture. Such “moral values” have already penetrated quite deeply into the Russian-language media, where no one dares to think broader, deeper or differently. To support a different opinion means to show the fallacy of universal support for the Russian media in referendum times. The days of debate are over. So they “silence” the doubters.

“The brutal truth of life is this. The main, strategic goal of the ENTIRE ruling class of Latvia is the de-Russification of the country. Disagreements between the ruling partners are of a tactical nature: pace, methods, public rhetoric, etc. Some expect that the Russians will leave, others - that they will assimilate, someone - that they will turn into a harmless folk group with samovars and balalaikas. The supposedly respectable “Unity” looks back at the liberal West, the straightforward “Visu Latviyai!” almost does not look back, but this does not change the essence of the matter. "

Except for the "brute truth" everything is true. And the brutal truth is carefully hidden - while “slaves fight, compradors divide.” The policy of de-Russification, so happily accepted by the fascist outcasts, benefits ALL comprador owners. The sale of former Latvian Soviet property, which previously belonged to the people and could not be taken away, has been going on and on. It remains to privatize some things and the people will only be left with an open-air ethnographic museum. Latvia, with its 30% poor population by European standards, is not entitled to anything more ( http://www.ves.lv/article/236009 ).

When in 2011 there was an opportunity to make peace with the Latvians, the fiery fighter Linderman rushed into the stalled confrontation and one of the turning points for national reconciliation with “needed like air” referendums. So that Latvians and Russians don’t hug each other and go together to disembowel their corrupt elite. Whoever thought about this is a “coward” and further in the text. And so that others do not doubt, they need to “pound healthy nails into the door,” which not only accuse them, but also reduce the enemy to the level of a moral “plinth.” Well, as for “ paces, methods, public rhetoric,” then the activities of ZARYA! nothing more than “tactical” differences between the corrupt elite; the general line remains unchanged.

Here, for example, is the following passage...

“Therefore, to be honest, I don’t give a damn how many votes young Dzintars chops off from the fading Elerte and Aboltini. Horseradish is no sweeter. And how can we - even if we wanted - to influence this process of redistribution of political influence INSIDE the nationalist camp? No way . And don’t bother yourself with this.”

For you and me and to hell with them! We can’t, we don’t want, don’t bother, we’re all saying it correctly - these are Linderman’s conclusions. As we found out above, Linderman draws the right conclusions with his approach to the national question. Now, if we admit that the approach is not correct, erroneous, then the conclusions will be completely different. But it’s impossible - such gentlemen are not considered “cowards” and “wise men” and they do not tell others to think differently. That’s why there was such a ban on dissent with moral pressure that transferred to individuals, so that it would be discouraging. No one wants to be called names in the press by adherents of “Russian culture”; during the campaign “for the language” such cases were not uncommon.

“To reassure the most fearful, I will add that the percentage of radical nationalists in all the diets of the post-Soviet Republic of Latvia was approximately the same. Yes, they were concentrated in “TB/DNNL” (as today in “Visu Latvijai!”), but some of them were dispersed for other parties, and the amount was always the same: 20-25%. Today the situation is exactly the same. And this, in my opinion, is the ceiling for radical nationalism, but it is unlikely to go lower either. "

After the “pumping”, it is necessary to reassure the followers - they are doing everything right! But, if nationalism has a “ceiling,” then why the previous statements about the failure of any attempts to reach an agreement? The radical nationalists will hit the ceiling, but the remaining 75% can be convinced! But why? Then the rhetoric will have to change from “national” to unifying, and the comprador elite cannot allow this. This “elite” needs to protect finances, resources, carry out orders from financial and political centers, carry out federalization for Europe, at least in parts or in its entirety - you see how much work there is. The people cannot be allowed to hang millstones and loans around the necks of people like the gentlemen mentioned by Linderman himself! God forbid, the Icelandic situation repeats itself! So for whom is the “pro-Russian” party, for which the main thing is language, trying to “tease the geese”, “rock the boats”? (LH-5 * )

“Of course, it’s good to keep an eye on what’s going on in the enemy’s camp. You need to keep your finger on the pulse, but this is not the main thing. It’s much more important to look at ourselves critically. It’s a shame and absurdity that neither in parliament nor in the overwhelming majority of self-governments there is no ONE deputy who would clearly and uncompromisingly defend the rights and interests of the Russian residents of Latvia, for whom this would be a priority and a matter of principle, and not a bargaining chip."

Linderman beautifully “shuffles” the deputies, covering them with the “brute truth.” Again, according to your wisdom. As we found out above, his wisdom does not allow him to convey to the people that in the Seimas there are AT ALL no deputies who uncompromisingly defend the interests of ALL the Latvian people. There is no concern for the entire people, but it’s okay to stir up passions around the absence of a deputy who matches Linderman’s characteristics. Linderman needs to accustom Russian-speaking people to life in a “ruined madhouse” with a certificate in Russian. Nothing more is required from him. There is a suspicion that they will not demand it. Why do compradors need this? The struggle among different nationalities within one country is endless as long as the country exists.

“We, the party “For the Native Language!”, believe that only continuous psychological pressure on the ruling ones can change the situation. In no case should we behave like good boys. Because with our “decent” behavior we again and again strengthen Latvians in the illusion that the Russians have come to terms with the policy of de-Russification, with the course towards a “Latvian Latvia.” As long as this illusion is alive, there will always be nationalists in power (radical + moderate, but nationalists).”

Starting with psychological pressure on your own, you can put as much pressure on those in power as you like. Under the current political system, national confrontation is eternal, which means the “Linderman” is eternal, and the holes in the pockets of the people who trusted the “elite” in Atmoda (the national upsurge during Perestroika) are eternal.

As an alternative to their course, the party members “For the native language!” They only see the destruction of the Russians. Have you “not ordered” another alternative to this batch? A good choice - either Linderman brings down Latvia, or total de-Russification. The third is not given, that is, they will not even allow you to think about it. Choice without choice. With this approach, both Russians and Latvians will be “de-Russified,” and friendly NATO police will patrol the borders between them. Because as long as “slaves will drag each other by the forelocks” (and how many more will die at the same time?) Latvia will turn into the feudal fiefdom of the Swedes-Germans-Americans. They will clear the territory of the aborigines and deploy a limited contingent. You won't find a better military base! There is no territory on the globe closer to Moscow. Then the real Russians will thank our “Russian-speaking” people! There will be someone the Americans can nominate for the Nobel Peace Prize.

“We need to bury this illusion. So that at least some of those Latvians who believe in it today are convinced of its impracticability. But for this we need to constantly demonstrate the Russian presence in Latvia and our firm position. This was the meaning of the language referendum, which showed : 1) we are against the policy of de-Russification, 2) there are many of us, hundreds of thousands. It was a good, useful session of shock therapy, and we will continue this line, not paying attention to those who have been afraid of “provoking the geese” for twenty years and will end up leaving. humans turned into food for these same geese."

Bury like that. So that at least some of those Russians who believe in happiness in the Russian language and the “European choice” in a fragmented and sold-out state turn to critical reflection on the situation in Latvia. There is a Russian presence, but there is no presence of the Latvian people, whose appearance will so upset both the compradors and the Lindermans. This is precisely the point of the referendums and other campaigns of the last year or two.

“Fat geese” can sleep peacefully as long as there are those quacking, taking away the just people’s retribution from them to the bottom of life. Shock therapy sessions will continue, we were promised.
