Children with cancer were deceived

City Clinical Hospital No. 31 - so many waves of information have passed around this seemingly standard medical institution that any federal medical clinic would envy. At the end of last year, rumors began to circulate that the Presidential Administration was transferring this hospital to serve the staff of judges of the Supreme and Arbitration Courts of Russia, as well as members of their families.

Hospital No. 31 is a medical institution that houses the best in Russia, a unique oncohematology department, where 75% of children doomed to die are cared for. Ten years ago it was only 25%, but over the years an excellent team of doctors and administrators has formed, people were able to achieve results comparable to the best world indicators.

The blood transfusion department was also under threat of destruction. Head of the blood transfusion department, which was created in 1990. An oncohematology center was opened on the basis of the hospital, three hematology departments of the city, bone marrow transplantation and a children's department moved here. And, of course, without the blood transfusion department it would be impossible to talk about any such technologies. The department makes a large volume of blood components. The department’s doctors carry out an individual selection of components for each patient. The most important thing for children undergoing treatment at Hospital No. 31 is their confidence that if they need blood, it will be there when they need it. Not every other day, not every 12 hours, but as needed.

And so the presidential administration decided to close, liquidate, disperse, and reorganize the hospital, which is essentially the only one of its kind in our region. They decided to serve the “poorest” in this hospital: the Supreme and Arbitration judges, family members and staff. I won’t talk about the salaries and privileges of this category of bureaucratic permeation of the highest power, I think you can guess.

Everything was decided in silence and top secret. No one informed the doctors about the move, no one informed the parents of the children that “alas, but you will have to be treated in another place, and where is unknown,” no one informed the public. Nobody, until documents have surfaced where everything has already been decided.

Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Olga Kazanskaya herself came to the 31st hospital and stated that “there will be no other options for a medical center for judges, except for the territory of the hospital on Krestovsky.”

Interfax: “The speaker of the St. Petersburg parliament says that the 31st city hospital will operate as before. Makarov officially confirmed that there are no decisions on repurposing, transferring, and, in particular, withdrawing from the city healthcare system.”

"Rosbalt": "There will be no closure of the hospital, this is impossible, because veterans, residents of St. Petersburg, are treated there, there is a wonderful children's oncology center there."

What are you saying? Where were these highly respected people when the bureaucratic riffraff sat in Smolny and discussed where to throw the children and how to comfortably accommodate the judges?! Where were these officials when Andrei Makarevich, Oleg Basilashvili, Liya Akhedzhakova, Chulpan Khamatova and many others turned to Putin?! Or did these officials once again confirm that manual dictatorial rule in our country is in its prime?

After the situation with the 31st hospital, I made several important conclusions for myself, many of which are not new:

— There is no society in our country. Society begins when power is society. And when the authorities don’t care about the most defenseless, the weak, the sick, this is rottenness, not society.

- In St. Petersburg there is a lot of golden land and many people who have never seen the eyes of sick children, but see a lot of gold that can be obtained with one stroke of the pen.

— Is support for family and childhood widely developed in our country? Read more about the hospital and what it has experienced over the years and over the past month. This is the most obvious federal program for the murder of family and childhood.

Children with cancer remain. Bye. Officials will be haunted by the fact that on elite land there is a “treatment facility for the infirm,” because here a cottage community can be built and VIPs can be served in a unique medical facility. It's a matter of time.

Children with cancer were deceived. Once again. They were deceived when they talked about paying for their treatment in Russia and abroad, when they were going to build a giant oncology center with hundreds of beds, etc.

In our country we have money for new iPads for deputies, for Lexuses for governors and for gold watches for guests of official receptions.

We have money for everything. For everything except...
