Morality kills

I accidentally saw the tragic news : “A 34-year-old parent strangled a girl, and then threw the body into a canal that flows near the house. The next day, the killer confessed and told the police that he killed his daughter, because, in his opinion, she was not virgin."

Anyone who knows what emotional disturbance is, as a result of which a person kills, understands that the father is in grief and he probably feels very guilty for coming to the police department.

But in Dagestan, the murder of girls by their parents or brothers on the basis of moral norms occurs often, since these murders are not recognized as immoral among community members, on the contrary, they are made a duty.

In fact, everyone who supports the father’s act contributes to the preservation of the norm, and therefore is an instigator of murder.

Moral norms, enshrined in the old adats of various societies in the form of exemption from punishment of relatives for the murder of a relative who committed a bad deed, are still in effect. The comments under the news confirm this.
