They will say goodbye to Alexander Dolmatov in Moscow

UPD 16:00. A civil memorial service for Alexander Dolmatov will be held on Wednesday, February 6, in Moscow, in the Funeral Hall of the Central Clinical Hospital from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Friends of Alexander Dolmatov want to hold a civil memorial service in Moscow, in the building of the State Technical University of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation (MIREA), where he studied. Dolmatov’s mother Lyudmila Doronina is not against holding a memorial service in Moscow. So far there has been no positive or negative response from the university administration, one of the leaders of The Other Russia, Sergei Aksyonov, told PublicPost. “If MIREA is against it, we will hold a funeral service in another place. Everyone will be able to come to it. The funeral will be in Korolev,” Aksyonov said.

The body of the Other Russia party activist Alexander Dolmatov, who committed suicide in the Netherlands, was taken to one of the morgues in the town of Korolev near Moscow. A civil service and funeral will take place next week. The exact date will be known after all preparations for the funeral are completed, Eduard Limonov’s press secretary Alexander Averin told PublicPost.

The plane with Dolmatov's body from Amsterdam arrived at Sheremetyevo airport late at night on February 3. In Moscow he was met by his party comrades and intelligence officers. The coffin with Dolmatov’s body was accompanied by National Bolshevik Dmitry Nechaev, a confidant of the mother of the deceased. The meeting passed without incident.

A memorial service for Alexander Dolmatov was held on January 30 at the Russian Orthodox parish of St. Nicholas of Myra in Amsterdam. The funeral service was conducted by the priest of the church, Father Sergius Ovsyannikov, with the blessing of the Metropolitan of Brussels. Everyone who wished to pay tribute to his memory was invited to participate in the open farewell ceremony for Alexander. Announcements of the service were broadcast on television and radio.

"Before the start of the service, Father Sergius addressed all those present not only with words of encouragement and sympathy for those who came to pray for the repose of the soul of the servant of God Alexander. Father Sergius stated that today, after the closed farewell ceremony with Alexander that he held this morning, he received a call from someone who recommended canceling public memorial service. The caller stated that the recommendation was due to fears of possible provocations and political demonstrations. Father Sergius did not heed the warnings, telling the “well-wisher” that “he does not know what he is talking about,” human rights activist Oksana Chelysheva told PublicPost.

The Other Russia activist Alexander Dolmatov committed suicide on January 17 in a temporary detention center for refugees. He left Russia in the summer of 2012, after his home was searched in connection with the case of a clash between citizens and riot police on May 6 on Bolotnaya Square in Moscow and threats began from the security services. Dolmatov left for Holland, where on June 26 he turned to the authorities with a request to grant him political asylum. The Dutch authorities denied Dolmatov asylum. Dolmatov in his suicide note asked to be buried in Russia.
