British doctors have undergone a successful surgical operation to reconstruct the skull and restore hearing a 15-year-old Pakistani girl Malale Yusufzai. She was seriously wounded by the Taliban in Pakistan in revenge for protecting women's rights.

According to the representatives of the Korolev Elizabeth hospital in the English city of Birmingham, where a five-hour operation was held, the girl was implanted into the skull of a titanium plate to replace a fragment of a bone damaged as a result of an attempt, ITAR-TASS reports.

Malale also implanted a hearing aid to restore hearing in the left ear, which was lost during the attack. According to the doctors, the girl came into consciousness and began to talk with her relatives.

Yusufzai was seriously wounded on October 9 last year Islamic fundamentalists from the Pakistani Taliban movement. The militants fired at a school bus, in which Malala was driving with other students, in the area of ​​the city of Mingor in the Valley of the Svat River.

The seriously wounded Yusufzai was transported for treatment to the UK , to the Korolev Elizabeth hospital. A medical institution is a leading center of transplanting bodies in the British Islands. This hospital was treated by the British military wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Previously, Malale had several operations in Birmingham. Her parents moved to this English city to take care of her. The girl's father received a job at the Pakistani Consulate.
