The ecological shift in the North Caucasus announced the Civil Combatment of the Olympics in Sochi. According to RBC, activists urge not to purchase souvenirs with the symbols of the Olympiad, not to attend competitions and not watch their broadcast on TV. Eco -defenders argue that there is good reason to demand a review of the decision of the International Olympic Committee on the venue of the 2014 winter games, although they recognize that such a review is no longer possible. They also prepare for the publication the Black Book of the Sochi Olympics, where all violations of environmental legislation will be systematized in preparation for games.
On Wednesday, the administration "Sochi Breeze Hotel", on the direction of the city authorities, tore the press conference of Ekovakhta activists Vladimir Kimaev and Valery Suchkov, who was appointed at the hotel, referring to the fact that all the agreements were oral. As a result, eco -defenders talked with the New York Times, The Washington Post, the German Channel ARD and other media in the area near the city circus.
"The goal of the city’s resort, declared by the organizers of the Olympiad, was clearly failed. The foundation of the resort was undermined and even destroyed - its unique natural environment," Kimaev told reporters. As an example, he cited the combined road and railway Adler - Krasnaya Polyana, the construction of which destroyed the ecosystem of the Mzymta River. The UN Committee on Environmental Protection (UNEP) ordered Russia to restore the natural complexes of the Mzymta Valley, however, as Schuchkov noted, the authorities did not take any measures for this.
The main danger today, according to eco -defenders, is the construction of the Kudepstinsky TPP. At the same time, although the construction of the power plant is included in the Olympic program, it is clearly not possible to complete the work before the start of the games: the estimated construction period is 20 months, and it did not even begin, since the project is still on state examination.
Ekovakhte activists have repeatedly been persecuted by the authorities. So, in June 2012, on June 20, the Tuapse District Court sentenced the members of the movement of Suren Gazaryan and Evgeny Vitishko to three years in prison for damage to the fence near the object, which the environmentalists consider the country of the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachev. They were found guilty under the article "Intentional damage to property committed from hooligan motives." Later, a new case was opened against Gazaryan - about the threat of the murder of a guard of the Palace of Putin in the village of Praskoveevka near Gelendzhik. In December, the activist fled from Russia to Estonia, where he asked for political asylum.
On February 6, 2013, Human Rights Watch published a report "Olympic anti -records", in which the facts of deception and operation of labor migrants at construction sites in Sochi are revealed. Human rights activists say that employers do not pay migrant workers for labor, force them to work 12 hours with two weekends per month, select passports. The protests of the workers ended with their expulsion from the country. "The world should not delight with the winter games in Russia if their foundation was exploited and violations," the report says.
On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said that attracting huge investments in Sochi in preparation for the Olympics should be a subject of pride. He said that actually 100 billion rubles from the budget are allocated to the Olympics in Sochi and the same amount from extrabudgetary sources. The remaining 1.3 trillion rubles are spent not on the games themselves, but on the development of the region - transport highways, treatment facilities and other infrastructure facilities.
On Monday, it became known that the Accounts Chamber recommended Kozak to free the company of Vladimir Potanin Interros from real estate tax. The proposal to provide Interros with tax holidays is due to the fact that the company Potanin is building a Russian International Olympic University in Sochi, included in the official list of Olympic facilities.
By the beginning of 2013, 1.136 billion rubles were already spent on preparing for the Olympics in Sochi. The total costs of games will exceed 1.5 trillion rubles. In 2006, it was assumed that the budget of the Olympiad, including all infrastructure projects, will be 316 billion rubles. After this, the game valued several times, which allowed the media back in 2010 to declare the Olympics in Sochi the most expensive in the history of the Olympic movement.
