In St. Petersburg they protest against the “Olympic clock” in front of the Kazan Cathedral

On Thursday morning in the center of St. Petersburg, on Malaya Konyushennaya Street, the “Olympic clock” was solemnly opened, counting down to the Olympic Games in Sochi.

Local residents have been discussing the new product that appeared opposite the Kazan Cathedral for several days now. About an hour ago, a collection of signatures for moving clocks from the city center started on the Internet.

“In our opinion, the “innovative” structure, built opposite the Kazan Cathedral near the Gogol monument, does not fit into the classical St. Petersburg style and disfigures the local architectural ensemble,” says the official page of the initiative group on the VKontakte website.

The collection of signatures is carried out by the St. Petersburg branch of the National Democrats. They also submitted an application for Saturday to hold a picket against the clock in St. Petersburg. From 14:00 to 15:00, right next to the clock, activists will continue to collect signatures.
