A one-story wooden school is burning with open fire in the Yakut village of 1st Neryuktyai, reports the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Yakutia.
“Currently, the area of the fire is 250 square meters. Five units of equipment and 19 personnel are involved in extinguishing the fire,” the message says.
It is emphasized that 189 children and 24 staff attended the school.
“There were no children in the building at the time of the fire; two staff members left the school building on their own when the automatic fire alarm went off,” notes the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
According to rescuers, the school building is timber-framed, one-story, built in 1956. The cause, culprit and damage are being established.
An investigative team is working at the scene of the fire.
