The governor of the Vologda region, Oleg Kuvshinnikov, decided to provide financial assistance to the families of regional police officers killed and injured during the terrorist attack in Khasavyurt, Dagestan.
The families of the deceased Vologda officers will receive 1 million rubles, the press service of the head of the region reported on Friday. The injured police officers will be provided with funds for treatment and the purchase of medicines.
The money will be allocated from the regional governor's reserve fund. According to the press service, the funeral of the victims will take place on February 18.
On February 14 at 4:40 am, near the Lava-250 checkpoint, located at the entrance to the city of Khasavyurt, while employees of the temporary operational group of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation were checking a car, presumably a VAZ-2109, a suicide bomber detonated a homemade high power explosive device . As a result of the explosion, three police officers died on the spot, one went missing, and six more were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity. Among the victims of the explosion were natives of the Vologda region.
Significant damage was caused to the traffic police post building. The power of the explosive device could be 100-120 kg in TNT equivalent, according to the Investigative Committee.
A criminal case has been initiated based on crimes under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist Act"), Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal Trafficking in Weapons"), Article 223 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal Manufacturing of Weapons").
