The further implementation of the initiative of Perm Governor Viktor Basargin to change the time in the region one hour closer to Moscow depends on the decision of the federal center. As the regional leader said, answering a question from a Znak.com correspondent, if the Kremlin decides to return to daylight saving time (the transition was canceled in June 2011 on the initiative of Dmitry Medvedev), then in the Kama region there will be no need to change anything by itself. “If everything remains as it is, then the issue will need to be resolved jointly with other regions, such as the Orenburg region and Bashkiria,” the governor said.

Basargin made a proposal to consider the issue of time (to move the clock 1 hour to Moscow) two weeks ago through his blog. Readers assessed the governor’s initiative differently, but the majority perceived it as “something artificial” and asked Basargin “not to touch anything.” The survey, which the head of the region announced on LiveJournal, showed that the majority of participants are in favor of maintaining the existing time. However, the governor said that after consultation with experts, it was decided that the region needed a switch. After this was reported in Perm, a picket of opponents of the initiative was held near the building of the Legislative Assembly of the region.
