Grigory Pomeranz died
In Moscow, in the 95th year of life, a philosopher, writer, cultural scientist Grigory Pomerantz died. As specified on the page of the Fund for Assistance to the writer, death occurred at about ten o’clock in the evening of Saturday.

Grigory Pomerantz lived a long and eventful life. He was born in 1918 in Vilna, in the twenties, the family moved to Moscow. In 1940, Pomerantz graduated from the Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and History, after which he lectured at the Tula Pedagogical Institute.

After the start of the war, he filed an application with the military enlistment office as a volunteer. In mid-January 1942, in the ranks of the 3rd Moscow Communist Division, he was sent to the North-Western Front, under the Old Russa. In early February 1942, he was easily wounded in the leg during the bombing. The writer remained for a lifetime.

Having demobilized in December 1945, Pomerantz returns to Moscow, where he works at Soyuz Patriya. In 1949, he was arrested on charges of anti -Soviet activities, condemning 5 years of camps. After rehabilitation in 1956, the writer worked as a bibliographer in INION RAS. In the dissident movement, the Pomeranz was noticed after his anti -Stalinist report "The Moral appearance of a historical personality."
Pomerantz and Mirkina were awarded the Bjernastierne Bjernon award, classic of Norwegian literature.

In 1968, Pomerantz signed an appeal in defense of the participants in the demonstration against the introduction of Soviet troops into Czechoslovakia. For many years, the writer led the polemic with Alexander Solzhenitsyn, criticizing "soil utopism" and upholding liberal values.
Since 1962, Pomerantz publishes in scientific publications an article on oriental studies and comparative cultural studies, mainly about the spiritual life of India and China. He described his life path in the book "Notes of the Ugly Duckling". The writer was married to the poetess Zinaida Mirkina.
