Putin: we need unified history textbooks "without double interpretations"

President Vladimir Putin demanded to write unified textbooks of Russian history for high school, "not having internal contradictions and double interpretations." According to RIA Novosti, with such a statement the head of state spoke at a meeting of the Presidential Council on Interethnic Relations. According to Putin, textbooks for different classes should be "built as part of a single concept", based on "respect for all pages of our past." At the same time, he emphasized, the authors need to demonstrate "that the fate of Russia was created by the unity of different peoples, traditions and cultures."

Putin also said that not only the Ministry of Education and Science and RAS can be involved in work on such textbooks, but also the Russian historical and Russian military-historical society.

In response, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov said that his department had already begun work on such textbooks. According to the minister, it is assumed that they will not only perform the training function, but also have a value load.

Officials are not raised by officials about the unification of Russian history textbooks. In December 2012, such an idea was expressed by the State Duma deputy from United Russia, earlier - the deputy unit, Vladimir Medinsky, later appointed by the Minister of Culture. In 2009, then President Dmitry Medvedev spoke about the same.
