
In accordance with the decision of the government until 2020, 11 new reserves, as well as 18 national parks and one federal reserve, will be created. Medvedev recalled that for a year and a half in Russia a special concept for the development of the system of protected natural territories of federal significance has been implemented. It determines the main directions of the development of reserves, national parks and reserves. During this time, two new national parks were established-the “Land of the Leopard” in Primorye and “Beringia” on Chukotka, created the security zone of the Wrangel Ostraus reserve, and the territory of the North Ossetian reserve was expanded.
The prime minister also said that the government has found additional money - the total amount of financing of reserves and national parks finally began to grow. Since 2009, it has increased 2.5 times, and this is without taking into account a large -scale program to eliminate damage in the Arctic. Over the past three years, the total fund of the remuneration of employees of national parks and reserves has grown by almost 80%.
