Putin came up with a “Schneerson library” to the Jewish Museum of Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed placing the Schneerson library at the Jewish Museum and the Center for Tolerance in Moscow, Interfax reports.

The head of state emphasized that the transfer of a book assembly in the United States, which is insisted by the Hasida movement "Khabad Lyubavic", is unacceptable.

“Unfortunately, I can only state that the discussion on this problem has reached such a confrontation plane associated with the adoption of, in my opinion, unlawful decisions in the courts of another country,” Putin said, answering the question of his attitude to history with the “library”.

“In my opinion, this is a serious step forward towards people who really want to solve this problem, and not use it as a reason for inciting passions, for confrontation,” RIA Novosti quoted Putin.

Several books from the collection of the Lubavich Rabbi Yoseph Itshak Schneerson were transferred in 1994 for temporary use of the US Congress library at the request of the American side as part of an inter -eating subscription.

When the return time was held, the United States turned to Russia with a request to extend them. In 1995 and 1996, with the permission of the Ministry of Culture of the RSL, such a permit issued. In 2000, representatives of the Khasid community through the US Embassy in Russia proposed exchanging these books for others and sent a list of replacement, but in the RSL they refused. Nevertheless, books have not been returned so far.
