The fall of a meteorite is a sign of the end of the world, said the representative of the Russian United Union of Christians of the Evangelical Faith in the region, Bishop Alexander Pashchenko.
“I am sure that this is a sign of God, this is a sign,” the bishop said in a statement. “The terrible tsunamis of recent times, the changes in the Sun that scientists are shouting about, the fall of a meteorite - all this is the beginning of the fulfillment of the prophecy of Jesus,” the statement says. Pashchenko believes that “there will be more cataclysms,” notes Interfax.
The meteorite burned in the sky over the Urals on February 15 . Fragments of the meteorite fell on the Chelyabinsk region, and the powerful wave broke glass in the windows of houses even in the Volga region. The number of people injured as a result of falling fragments exceeded 1,000 people ; almost 3,000 buildings were damaged in the Chelyabinsk region alone.
