General Fadeev, who killed 22 riot policemen, is suspected of fraud with land

Former deputy head of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Boris Fadeev, now an adviser to the head of Sergiev Posad for relations with law enforcement agencies, was detained on suspicion of large-scale fraud with land, the Kommersant newspaper reports.

As part of this case, in addition to Fadeev, the registrar of the city department of Rosreestr Vera Yagodkina, her husband Vadim Yagodkin and their daughter Yulia Yagodkina were detained. The latter currently works as a leading engineer in the same department of Rosreestr as her mother, Interfax notes. The prosecutor's office estimates the damage that would have been caused to the Sergiev Posad municipal district if the crime was completed at approximately 5 million rubles. A case of fraud and attempted fraud on a particularly large scale has been opened against the detainees. If convicted, they face up to ten years in prison.

Fadeev has already been convicted in the case of the death of 22 Sergiev Posad riot police in Chechnya in 2004. Fadeev was found guilty of negligence, but then released under an amnesty, which was announced in 2000 in connection with the 55th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
