On Wednesday, February 20, the Ivanovo Regional Court will consider the appeal of businessman Alexei Kozlov against the denial of parole. The businessman, convicted under the article "fraud", is serving his sentence in a colony-settlement in the Ivanovo region of the region. He has already served four of his five years.
On January 29, the Ivanovo District Court denied Kozlov parole. Those gathered in the hall greeted this decision with cries of "Shame!". At the same time, Kozlov's wife, journalist Olga Romanova, noted that on December 10, 2012, a new version of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud) came into force, under which the entrepreneur was convicted, but the court did not take into account changes in legislation.
This is not the first denial of parole received by Kozlov. In September 2012, the court made a similar decision, despite a positive reference from the colony.
Meanwhile, on January 22, 2013, that is, a week before the consideration of Kozlov's application for parole by the district court, the qualification board of judges of the Ivanovo region announced to Romanova that they had refused to accept her appeal for consideration. "A week before the court decision, they already denied me a complaint that I have not written yet!" Romanova said.
