Co-founder of the groups Joy Division and New Order, bassist Peter Hook, will again come to Russia with a concert. With his group The Light, he will perform on April 17, 2013 at the Moscow Hall club, and on April 19 at the St. Petersburg Cosmonaut. This is stated on the musician's website .

The Light's repertoire consists of songs by Joy Division. The idea of a concert ensemble to perform the material of his first band came to Peter Hook in 2010: on May 18 of that year, on the 30th anniversary of the death of Joy Division leader Ian Curtis, he played songs from the band’s first album “Unknown Pleasures” (1978) in the legendary Manchester club "The Haçienda". After this, Hook went on a world tour performing this program, and on March 2, 2012, he performed it at the Moscow club “MILK”. The next day, The Light played in the St. Petersburg “Cosmonaut”.

This time, Peter Hook and The Light will perform songs not only from “Unknown Pleasures,” but also from Joy Division’s second (last) record, “Closer,” which was released in 1980.

Joy Division was formed in 1976 in the Manchester suburb of Salford. The band was one of the pioneers of post-punk, it influenced a huge number of musicians, both playing in the 1980s and those who began their careers at the beginning of the 21st century during the revival and rethinking of that direction. In 1980, Ian Curtis, the band's lead singer and lyricist, committed suicide at the age of 23. After this, Joy Division, which released two albums, disbanded, and the remaining members founded the band New Order, which later also acquired cult status.

Joy Division material is played by New Order musicians quite rarely and never in the form of a full-fledged concert program. In 2007, Peter Hook left the group, which continued touring without him in 2011. The bassist focused on his projects, the main one of which was The Light.

In 2012, Peter Hook published the book “Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division”. In October, the artist organized a tour in support of his memoirs, presenting the publication in bookstores in British cities.
