ONEXIM sold the share of Mikhail Prokhorov -38% of the shares in Polyus Gold to the structures of the State Duma deputy Zelimkhan Mutsoev and the former co-owner of Vimm-Bill-Danna Gabriel Yushvaeva, Business FM said.
ONEXIM does not call the amount of the transaction. According to the media, the share of Prokhorov was bought for $ 3.6 billion.
On the eve of the media there were reports that Suleiman Kerimov, who owns 40% of Polyus Gold capital, announced his readiness to buy a share of Prokhorov.
Zelimkhan Mutsoev has a story of a joint business with Suleiman Kerimov. In 2010, Mutsoev, Kerimov and Anatoly Skurov bought a control bag of Sylvinite. Later, Sylvinite united with Uralkali, in which he moved to Kerimov.
Thus, Prokhorov, who always maintained operational control over Polyus Gold, including through management, sold his entire share in the company, Forbes reports.
The Jersian Polyus Gold International (former KazakhGold) controls more than 95% of Pole Gold OJSC, the leader of the Russian gold mining market. The company is developing ore and postal deposits in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Irkutsk, Magadan and Amur Regions and Yakutia. By 11:23 Moscow time on the Moscow Exchange, the Pole Gold shares increased to 1077.8 rubles apiece, adding 4.2%on the news about the transaction.
The British mergers and acquisitions can soon make a decision on the request of the sale of Prokhorov’s package in Polyus Gold, and it is likely that it will be positive, Reuters reported with reference to three informed sources.
Sale of Prokhorov shares can open the way to the merger of Polyus Gold and the largest silver manufacturer in Russia - "Polymetal".
If the transaction receives a positive assessment, it can take place already in the first quarter of this year
