A resident of Yakutsk attempted suicide by self-immolation, the head of the press service of the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Stanislav Platonov, told the Interfax agency on Monday.
According to him, the incident happened on the night of February 23. Male born 1979 doused himself with gasoline and set himself on fire. The emergency happened in one of the wooden houses. A fire in the house was avoided; firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames in the entrance. There were no casualties.
The man is in serious condition in the republican hospital, he received burns to 60% of his body.
He was previously convicted of drug trafficking. An investigation is underway.
