Acting President of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov apologized for the actions of five natives of the republic who extinguished the Eternal Flame in the Brotherly Garden memorial complex in the center of Astrakhan.
“We apologize to all Astrakhan residents and hope that this incident will not affect the good neighborly and respectful relations of Dagestanis with residents of Astrakhan and other regions of the country. We are Russians - citizens of Russia, adherents of Russian laws and Russian culture,” the press service quoted Abdulatipov as saying on Monday Dagestan President.
Earlier, police in Astrakhan detained five young people who extinguished the Eternal Flame at the mass grave of Red Army soldiers on the night of February 23.
