A new criminal case was instituted against Silvio Berlusconi, whose party in the recent election with a minimum margin of votes was won by the left -centric coalition. The Naples prosecutor’s office accuses the former prime minister of giving bribes, corruption and illegal financing of political parties. According to investigators, Berlusconi proposed 3 million euros to Senator Sergio de Gregorio. He wanted to ensure the transition of Prime Minister Romano Prodi to the camp of the right opposition. Prodi was a member of the left -centric coalition.
Currently, a safe for storing the values of the leader of the Freedom Party is sealed and will remain at the disposal of the financial fraud service until the special order of the prosecutor's office. A request was submitted to the parliament on the beginning of the investigation. Berlusconi is also accused of wiretapping telephone records and conversations, reports Corriere Della Sera .
The former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was already accused of financial fraud, and also made charges of corruption against him. He was suspected of bribing by the British lawyer David Mills with the aim of giving false testimony in court for the sake of Berlusconi, as well as in tax fraud related to his entrepreneurial activity, even before coming to politics, Gazeta.Ru notes.
Recall that about two dozen cases have opened against Berlusconi over the past 20 years. Until the fall of last year, all of them, including the relations with the mafia, ended either with an acquittal of a decision, or archived behind the statute of limitations, or closed for a lack of evidence of guilt.
In October 2012, Mediaset was sentenced . The Berlusconi Media group bought the rights to show films through other companies, in particular, Mediatrade and RTI, excessively increasing purchase prices. The difference between the real and the fanned price was transferred to accounts in banks in Switzerland and the Bahamas, where "black funds" arose in this way. Berlusconi received four years in prison, but the court reduced the term of amnesty to 12 months. However, the fact that the former prime minister will have to serve him, there are great doubts - the sentence will appeal, and this procedure can take several years in Italy.
