The investigation was begun after the former president of France accused Mediapart of slander and filed an application with the police . According to Mediapart, 50 million euros transferred to the sarcose, washed through bank accounts in Panama and Switzerland. It is assumed that the Swiss account was opened in the name of the leader of the Union for the People’s Movement party and the active participant in the campaign of Sarkozy, Jean-Fransua Cope.
