A photo of a kickboxer at a monument in Tomsk became the reason for a criminal case
Tomsk police have opened a criminal case into the desecration of a monument to military doctors who died in the Great Patriotic War, the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs told the Interfax-Siberia agency on Friday.
“The case was initiated based on the posting on the Internet of a photograph of a citizen near the monument to military doctors, in which he defiantly demonstrates his stretch marks,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
The agency's interlocutor clarified that a criminal case was opened under the article "desecration of a sculptural structure dedicated to the fight against fascism or victims of fascism."
Earlier, a photograph of professional kickboxer, former member of the Russian national team Givi Sotsuk from Abakan appeared on one of the social networks, where he, demonstrating stretching, rested his foot on the monument to military doctors in Tomsk. It was alleged that the photograph was taken five years ago during the athlete’s treatment in Tomsk.
The photo caused indignation among Internet users, after which G. Sotsuk apologized on air on Abakan television.
