Tyumen University students complain about forced drug testing

Students of Tyumen State University (TSU) were forced to undergo drug testing, one of the students at the university’s Institute of Humanities told Kommersant on condition of anonymity.

“17 students of the journalism department refused to undergo drug testing, since testing is not mandatory. After the refusal, the director of the Institute of Humanities, Sergei Kondratyev, held an explanatory conversation with the students, demanding that they undergo testing in accordance with the rector’s order,” the student said.

According to her, the department’s dean’s office has created a black list of those who refused testing; they are no longer given certificates of study at the university.

The university's information and media relations department confirmed to the newspaper that testing is being carried out at the university. “The testing system is voluntary, but we are trying to cover the largest number of students,” the press service said, suggesting that for more detailed information contact Vice-Rector for Extracurricular Affairs Nadezhda Ermakova, who is in charge of this issue.
