Chelyabinsk hosts "The Last Emperor"
The president of the Union of Mixed Martial Arts of Russia (MMA), multiple world champion Fedor Emelianenko arrived in the capital of the Southern Urals to participate in an all-Russian coaching seminar on this sport.
Yesterday, before the start of his working visit, the legendary fighter (a deeply religious man who openly supports the foundations and principles of the Orthodox faith) visited the Chelyabinsk diocesan administration, where he met with Metropolitan Feofan and asked for a blessing. The Bishop gladly blessed the athlete and presented him with an Orthodox calendar and a book about Chebarkul with photographs of the lake where the Chelyabinsk meteorite fell. In response, Fedor Emelianenko presented Metropolitan Feofan with a T-shirt with the logo of the sports Union of Mixed Martial Arts. At the end of the meeting, a short excursion around the St. Simeon Cathedral was organized for the distinguished guest. Fyodor Emelianenko lit a candle, bowed to the holy icons and promised the Metropolitan that he would definitely attend the service here before his departure from Chelyabinsk.
The visit program includes meetings with representatives of city and regional administrations. Much attention is paid to the formation of a long-term strategy for the development of mixed martial arts in the region. In addition, the legendary fighter will conduct master classes for young athletes and demonstrate elements of striking and fighting techniques. More than 150 trainers from Siberia, the Urals and the Volga region were invited to the coaching seminar.
