Stalin's popularity: historians are not to blame

The conclusion of Lev Gudkov (director of the Levada Center) is quite fair that the growth of Stalin’s popularity is inversely proportional to the historical awareness of citizens. But what can historians do if in recent years they have already published a mass of documents and an entire library on the history of Stalinism (to name only 10 volumes of archival documents “Lubyanka to Stalin” and more than 80 books in the ROSSPEN publishing house)? Yelling at the barrier with Solovyov in the middle or something else?

Historians have fulfilled their professional duty quite adequately, and the rest - the mental retardation of the elites, mass literature and other “airfield” cultural products, the weak immunity of people against manipulation of consciousness - all this is not part of the scientific community.

What should I do?
