A suspect in the attempt on the life of the artistic director of the Bolshoi Theater ballet, Sergei Filin, was detained, the press service of the capital's Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told reporters.
“During the course of operational search activities as part of the investigation into the criminal case of the attack on Sergei Filin, on Tuesday, Moscow police officers brought one of the suspects in for questioning,” the press service officer said.
Currently, the necessary investigative measures are being carried out, he noted.
On the evening of January 17, 2013, the chief choreographer of the Bolshoi Theater, Sergei Filin, was attacked in Moscow, near his home . An unknown person threw acid in his face. Filin was taken to the hospital with burns. He subsequently underwent several eye surgeries.
Based on this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm”). The police considered his professional activities as the main version.
