In Tyumen, a monument to a homeless dog collected 15 thousand rubles in donations in three weeks
More than 15 thousand rubles were raised by a monument to a stray dog, which was installed in Tyumen on February 11 of this year, Olga Donis, director of the city charity foundation for animals “Poteryashki”, told the Interfax agency.
“A very good amount collected in just three weeks. In the first week, 4 thousand rubles were collected, in the second - more than 6 thousand, in the third - about 5 thousand,” Donis said.
The fund hopes that in the full month, until March 11, the monument to the “sad dog” lying near one of the shopping centers in Tyumen will raise 20 thousand rubles.
“Among the donations there is also foreign currency - euros, euro cents, as well as other European coins,” Donis added.
According to her, all donations collected will be used to support homeless animals kept by the foundation’s volunteers, with most of the funds going to the treatment of cats and dogs.
“Currently, about 350 homeless animals are in foster care with the foundation’s volunteers, about 70% of them are cats and 30% are dogs,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
On February 11, 2013, the grand opening of the second monument-piggy bank to raise money to help homeless animals took place in Tyumen. The first monument-piggy bank to a homeless mongrel appeared in the center of Tyumen in June 2010. Over two years, this “Dog-piggy bank” collected almost a million rubles for its homeless brothers, part of which was used to support the city shelter for homeless animals.
So, with the money collected by the “mongrel”, enclosures were purchased, a walking area was built, and large portable cages for dogs were purchased. In addition, 20% of the funds raised goes to the treatment and sterilization of homeless animals, as well as to the maintenance of cats and dogs by volunteers.
