Part of the Internet for robots has been launched
Scientists of the European project ROBOEARTH launched the cloud online base of the Internet for robots , which will be presented at the 2013 European Robotics Forum forum from March 19 to March 21 in Lyon. The base is called Rapyuta and will be intended so that robots can better understand the world of a person, without overloading himself with excessive calculations.
Rapyuta acts something like this: when a robot designed to perform routine operations (for example, preparation of breakfast) meets the objects previously unknown to him, instead of turning off or bypass the obstacle, the robot simply photographs the object and receives its standardized description from Rapyuta, after which it can manipulate it. If the object is too complicated, instead of conducting independent calculations, how to interact with it, the robot transfers calculations on the cloud - the project page reports that for this purpose, Rapyuta will store the clone of the robot system. Moreover, system clones will be interconnected, which will simplify the transfer of “experience”. The transfer of calculations to the cloud will significantly reduce the cost of the production of robots.
