People's Artist of Russia Conductor Wolf Gorelik died on Wednesday night at the 80th year of his life, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of the Moscow Academic Musical Theater named after Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko, in which the musician has passed the last 20 years of the creative life of the musician.

“It happened unexpectedly - on March 10, Wolf Mikhailovich conducted a“ love drink, ”said the representative of the theater’s press service. The conductor died suddenly, from pneumonia.

Farewell to the conductor will take place in the theater on Friday, at 10:30. Then cremation will take place, after which the ashes will be buried in the Donskoy cemetery, next to the grave of his mother.

“It was a very alive, sincere, indifferent person and a real musician,” said theater general director Vladimir Urin. “He knew how to make music. The theater has a number of his performances, for example,“ Bohemia ”, which was already in the repertoire for 18 years. And the Wolf Gorelik always stood behind the remote control.”

The director said that the maestro was a conductor of many performances that were awarded the Golden Mask Prize. Among them - "Love drink", "Lucia di Lammermur", "All women do this."

The director also said that on Wednesday, Gorelik will be conducted by his student.

Wolf Gorelik was born in 1933 in the Sverdlovsk region. He graduated from the Ural State Conservatory. In different years, he worked in the symphony orchestras of the Tomsk and Novosibirsk Philharmonic. He was the conductor of the Sverdlovsk and Novosibirsk theaters of the opera and ballet. In 1966-67-the main conductor of the Buryat Opera and Ballet Theater (Ulan-Ude). In 1967-73 - the main conductor of the Saratov Opera and Ballet Theater named after Chernyshevsky. Since 1974 - conductor of the Moscow Operetta Theater. Since 1993 - conductor of the Moscow Academic Musical Theater named after Stanislavsky and Nemirovich -Danchenko.

In the Stanislavsky Theater, he was a conductor of such performances as Bohemia, Toska, Lucia Di Lammermor, Love Drink, “This is what all women do” and many others.
