On Sakhalin, student volunteers teach computer literacy to pensioners
A computer literacy school for pensioners was opened at the Yuzhno-Sakhalin Institute of Economics, Law and Informatics (USIEPI).
Classes there are taught by students of the institute's engineering faculty, the USIEPI press service told Interfax.
"In an effort to help and benefit those who need it, students and volunteer teachers of the Faculty of Engineering decided to open a computer literacy school for grandparents who want to master the basics of working with a computer. The idea of creating such a school resonated with the management of the institute, which provided free based on a computer audience for working with Internet resources,” the interlocutor said.
Education for the elderly is provided free of charge. Classes will be held three times a week for a month. During this time, older people will be taught not only how to operate a computer, but also how to use the Internet, Skype, email, etc. After completing the courses, all students will receive a certificate of course training.
The classes started last week with 11 people signing up, with an average age of 60.
