In Krasnoyarsk, the only combine harvester plant outside the Urals announced the reduction of 90% of its staff
The Krasnoyarsk Combine Harvester Plant (KZK, the only manufacturer of grain harvesting equipment outside the Urals) is laying off 654 of its employees, the press service of the regional labor and employment agency told Interfax.
“The staff reduction will take place in two stages: from May 21, 460 people will be laid off, and from June 17, another 194 employees. In total, the company employs more than 700 people,” the agency’s press service clarified.
Thus, the company lays off more than 90% of its staff.
The authorities do not expect any serious problems with the employment of dismissed KPC workers.
"73% of the company's employees expected to be laid off are skilled workers. There is a great demand for such specialists, especially in Krasnoyarsk. Many of them are already being offered a place for employment. In particular, Krasmash (Krasnoyarsk Machine-Building Plant OJSC) is ready to immediately take away several dozens of craftsmen,” the labor agency explained to Interfax.
In addition, some of the combine plant personnel will continue to work at the enterprise. “As the management of the enterprise stated, they have a certain scope of work,” the employment center was told.
It was previously reported that the production capacity of the combine plant is expected to be transferred to Promtractor OJSC (Cheboksary, also part of the Tractor Plants concern).
“The assembly of combines (in Krasnoyarsk) will be carried out until the fall, after which a new line will be launched at Promtractor (in Cheboksary), while the production of units and components for combines will continue in Krasnoyarsk until 2014,” the concern’s president explained to reporters Mikhail Bolotin.
Earlier it became known that the Tractor Plants concern intends to close the Krasnoyarsk Combine Harvester Plant and transfer the vacant site in the city center (20 hectares) for housing construction.
The Tractor Plants concern produces industrial, military, railway, agricultural, municipal construction and logging equipment, as well as components and spare parts for them. KTZ includes 20 enterprises in Russia, Austria, Germany and Denmark.
