The court of Yoshkar-Ola (Mari El) convicted three residents of the Volga region for theft of more than 2 million rubles from the current account of the notary chamber of Mordovia.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Mordovia reports that in January 2012, three previously convicted residents of Kazan and Yoshkar-Ola launched a virus into the computer of the Republican Notary Chamber via the Internet. This gave them access to the organization's current account, payment password and electronic digital signature code.
“As a result, they generated a payment order, which made it possible to transfer 2 million 103 thousand 984 rubles to a pre-opened current account,” the message says.
Subsequently, the accomplices tried to steal money again in a similar way, but were detained by officers of the Mordovian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
One of the defendants was sentenced to 2 years 7 months in prison, the other two defendants were sentenced to 2 years 6 months each. They will serve their sentence in a maximum security penal colony.
