Exhibition of street art "Voice of streets" goes to Kaliningrad

PublicPost is preparing to open the second exhibition of the substantive street art “Voice of streets” in Kaliningrad (AKA Koenigsberg) on ​​April 3, 2013 in the movie “Zarya”. It will traditionally present the works of street artists from different cities of Russia, as well as master classes and lectures, at which beginners will get acquainted with the theory and new Street Arts, and professionals will share their experience.

The Voice of the Streets is a unique project, which is the focus of which is non -profit street art. The only criterion for selection of work is the presence of a clear message, the author’s civil position, a call for dialogue. Hence the name "Substantial or plot street art." The works were collected not on the principle of fame of the authors, but directly from the streets of the cities of Russia by the method of reprint and photographs. Artists from Kaliningrad created work specifically for the exhibition.

In these graffiti, stencil prints, applications, installations and stickers, the voice of modern Russia, belonging to street artists and people engaged in street art, sounds. This is due to the name of the exhibition "Voice of the streets".

The presented works carry both thoughts on socially important topics and an artistic desire to rethink space. We did not try to highlight ideology and directions, therefore, an eclectic picture of streets is shown, where art graffiti is adjacent to radical slogans. Representatives of various directions of street activity take part in the exhibition: from the authors known or simply hiding their identity on an international scale.

The spectator will be awaited for the exhibition by the placement of exhibits, which are "scattered" throughout the room of the Cinema "Zarya". Work can be found in the most amazing places. The most contradictory of them are placed in the hall of the night club, which is closed on weekdays, but ...

For novice connoisseurs of street art, we prepared descriptions of work, brief characteristics of the authors with links to their sites and pages on the VKontakte network. Later they will certainly appear on our website. For carriers of gadgets, this information is encrypted in QR codes embedded in the exposition.

Recall that the first exhibition "Voice of the streets" was held in St. Petersburg , and the "revolutionary" attitude of some authors could not but affect the general mood. But each city has its own specifics. The artists of Kaliningrad, from childhood stepping around the paving stones and fighting for its preservation along with other monuments of history, have their own style, their message, their own special feeling. In Kaliningrad, of course, we focused on these works. Despite the fact that the Exhibition "Voice of the streets" is in principle in the process of working out the substantive street art and the design of this direction as a form of art.

Master classes on April 6-7

The program of lectures and master classes consists of three parts: it will begin with art historians, will continue the master classes of the exhibition participants and end with free communication, in which each guest will receive what he came for.

Among the speakers:

1. Evgeny Umansky (Kaliningrad), expert of the State Center for Contemporary Art-"Trends in the development of street art";
2. Anna Tereshkova (St. Petersburg), artist-"street work using a laptop and projector";
3. Avdotya Kablukova (St. Petersburg), the artist-"The art of the poster (post-art): history and practice";
4. Vika Mavi (Kaliningrad), the artist-"images and motives of folk crafts in street art."

The exhibition will be held from April 3 to 21 in the cinema "Zarya" , Mira Avenue, 41/43.

Master classes will be held on April 6 and 7 from 16:00 to 19:00 in the room of the Universal nightclub (entrance from the courtyard of the executioner "Zarya")
