Flood in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug this year is expected to be within normal limits, the press service of the regional governor reported on Friday.
The zone of possible flooding includes up to 135 residential buildings, where about 4 thousand people live, in the cities of Nadym and Tarko-Sale, the villages of Urengoy and Ovgort, and about 15 economic facilities, the report says.
“Preliminary analysis suggests that the highest levels on the rivers of the district are expected to be close to normal. Final conclusions can be made in April,” the message quotes the words of Deputy Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Alexei Bulaev.
Rivers in Yamal are free of ice in the second half of May - late June. Calendar spring will come to the district no earlier than mid-April, but for now, for example, on Friday in Salekhard the air temperature is 38 degrees below zero, the press release notes.
