The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation did not initiate a case against former State Duma deputy from the United Russia faction Alexei Knyshov. The people's representative handed over his mandate in October 2012. after the Social Revolutionaries and the prosecutor's office convicted him of illegal participation in business activities, having discovered a Slovak company registered in United Russia.

During the investigation, investigators did not find any crime in the actions of the former deputy, Kommersant writes today.

The initiator of the inspection was a member of the A Just Russia party, Alexander Ageev, who suspected the United Russia member of “illegal participation in business activities” (Article 289 of the Criminal Code). In October last year, representatives of the Investigative Committee stated that the investigation had documents confirming that A. Knyshov, after being elected to parliament, was listed as the executive director of the Inbister company in Slovakia.

During the subsequent inspection, investigators received materials that indicate that United Russia is also the founder of Don Group of Construction Companies LLC, Rostovstroymaterialy Production Association CJSC, Vneshtorgresurs LLC, Avtoban-Yug LLC, "Don-Leasing", LLC "Rosfarmsnab", LLC "Euro-Leasing", CJSC "Yugstroymontazh", CJSC "Boguraevskoye Mining Administration", LLC "NVA-alliance" and CJSC "Rostovtekhprom". However, the companies were founded before the election of United Russia to the State Duma. The deputy-businessman wrote a statement about the resignation of the head of the companies after receiving notification of election from the Central Election Commission. Nevertheless, a number of discrepancies in dates were still found, but A. Knyshov attributed the inaccuracies to the sluggishness of the new company managers.

The “Slovak question” has become the most difficult for the deputy. A. Knyshov presented the investigators with documents indicating that the Inbister company had not conducted any financial or economic activities since its establishment and had not paid the ex-deputy a salary.

As a result, the Investigative Committee did not find “sufficient grounds” to initiate a criminal case under Article 289 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Assistants to the ex-deputy refrained from commenting on the case.
