The first to report the incident on the morning of March 25 were "Soldier's Mothers". Although the suicide happened three days earlier, which was immediately learned in the unit. As Novaya Gazeta was told by the press service of the Western Military District, a serviceman from military unit No. 02511 (Kamenka) Sergei Mishkin had been receiving treatment at the Kronstadt military hospital since January 10. The body on March 22 at 21.15 was discovered by the hospital doctor on duty in one of the back rooms.
“On Friday evening, the soldier did not come to dinner, they started looking for him and found him hanging on a rope in the old gym,” Novaya Gazeta was told at the Kronstadt military hospital. “Four playing cards lay next to the corpse: the king of hearts, the king of diamonds, the nine of spades, and on top of them, face down, was the ace of diamonds. The strange message is now being studied by investigators.
Sergey Mishkin was called up from Tula in April 2012. He had about a month to serve. The mother of the deceased, Larisa Mishkina, said that her son joined the army of his own free will, although he had the right to a deferment. For the first six months of service, everything went well.
Since September last year, Sergei has changed, closed in on himself. At the same time, Larisa Mishkina learned about the appearance in the company of senior lieutenant Valery Zheludkov, who appointed her son as a clerk, since he was good at computers.
“Sergey said,” his mother continues, “that Zheludkov ordered him to do work on the computer at night, which was part of the duties of a senior lieutenant. One day my son called me at night and asked me to urgently send 5,000 rubles - or he would be killed for damaging several sheets of paper intended for work.
Larisa Ivanovna repeatedly turned to the psychologist of military unit No. 02511, as a result, on December 24, 2012, Sergei was sent for examination to a St. Petersburg psychiatric hospital.
- The same Zheludkov was appointed as the escort. In the hospital, the doctor and the senior lieutenant forced his son to write a statement refusing medical care, and in case of repeated appeal, they threatened him with a disbat, the woman claims.
In January, Mishkina again came to Kamenka, met with the political officer of military unit No. 02511 and obtained a re-examination: Sergei was hospitalized in the Kronstadt military hospital.
“The son was terribly afraid of returning to Kamenka,” the mother admits. - In one of his last messages to friends, Sergey wrote: "The chances that I will return are 1%."
Relatives and friends of the deceased believe that he was driven to suicide. The command of military unit No. 02511 denies this version and refuses to comment on the situation.
“A preliminary check did not reveal any facts of abuse of the soldier and extortion of money from him,” the press service of the Western Military District told Novaya Gazeta. - Upon the fact of the death of a serviceman, the issue of initiating a criminal case is being decided.
