Gay pride parade banned in Syktyvkar

The city authorities thought the ban was not enough, and the mayor of Syktyvkar, Ivan Pozdeev, decided to write a bill that would completely ban “homosexual propaganda” and any events by LGBT activists.
On January 25, 2013, the State Duma adopted in the first reading amendments to the code of administrative offenses, which would result in administrative liability for “propaganda of homosexuality.” If the amendments are adopted, then “propaganda of homosexuality among minors” (the concept is not specified in the law) will be punishable by a fine of 4 to 5 thousand rubles for citizens, from 40 to 50 thousand rubles for officials, from 400 to 500 thousand rubles - for legal entities. These are the highest fines allowed by Russian law.
