About the rules

The hostel has a pass system, the doors open at 6 am, but, following the order, the hostel doors close at exactly 11 pm . To our question about family rooms, the answers were mixed. Thus, 3rd year student Nikita Polyakov confirmed that there are family rooms, but he himself “would not recommend living in a dormitory with children.” But a graduate of the Faculty of Cultural Heritage Protection, Alexander Bebenin, on the contrary, said that “...married couples sleep separately, but often the life is shared, however, there are no conditions for children, but one family lived, he personally nursed Vasily Pavlovich, so at the Academy Along with basic training, I took a young father’s course.” Another graduate, but this time from the Faculty of Painting, Vasily Anikin, told us about the time when the Academy administration wanted to ban computers. “A special commission went around the hostel and confiscated them under the pretext of unauthorized use of electricity. So they went to one girl, and she had a laptop, they wanted to take it away, but the owner explained to them that the laptop was powered by solar panels, so they left her alone.”

About conflicts

Students assure us that conflicts are not reported to the administration, and that conflicts themselves are extremely rare. Olya Yashina, a 4th year student, told us that the Academy has a practice of general meetings at which issues of interest to students and the administration are raised. The Administration may also propose disciplinary punishments, for example, in the form of a general cleaning.

About leisure

Artists are no different from all other students; they also drink, drink, sleep for a very long time, go to clubs, wash things and surf the Internet. Yes, we completely forgot, after all this, of course, they work.

About characters and incidents

Someone , citing the fact that all artists are a priori colorful personalities, did not talk about it. But one character was still mentioned in the conversation: a certain Boris Udarenko, nicknamed “Boris the Razor,” a veteran of the first Chechen war, lived in the hostel, every evening he shamelessly caroused with all the consequences, but at the same time everything was decent without unnecessary inconvenience for others. As notable cases, many students cited examples with drainpipes, windows and canopies, which, I think, are still remembered by many.

When we asked why you love the hostel, someone answered “for the location.” And he wasn’t lying. But we want to give one more quote-attitude to this place: “This is one big friendly family. Only in such places do you understand who you are and what your surroundings are like. For me, the dorm is the place where I grew up.”
