US Secretary of State arrived in Turkey with a delay for the day

The head of the US State Department, John Kerry, arrived in Turkey on Sunday for negotiations with the country's leadership.

It is expected that the Secretary of State will hold negotiations with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the country's foreign minister Akhmet Davutoglu, Interfax reports. The main topics of the discussion will be the situation in Syria and the process of peaceful settlement in the Middle East.

The Huriyet newspaper, citing an unnamed representative of the State Department, also writes that Kerry "will call Turkey to immediately begin to fulfill the agreement with Israel and completely normalize relations with it in order to achieve a higher level of cooperation."

Kerry was supposed to arrive in Turkey on Saturday, but due to technical problems his plane flew out of Washington later than planned.
