"Voice of the streets" in Kaliningrad: the first day

The Street Street Street Exhibition opened this time in the Kaliningrad Cinema "Zarya". By tradition, we not only introduce the audience to the work of street artists, but also conduct lectures and master classes. On the first day of our interactive program, the Zukclub team spoke about the history of Street Art, and Kaliningrad artist Alexei Medvedev taught to make 3Ds on the asphalt using a camera, crayons and ingenuity.

The Cinema "Zarya" is one of the most popular "cultural" places in Kaliningrad. Firstly, this is one of the oldest cinemas-it has existed since the time of Koenigsberg (in the 30s it was called Scala), and secondly, it is almost the only place in the city where, in addition to Western blockbusters, you can see the European arthouse (spectators are especially appreciated for this). And in the building "Dawn" there is a restaurant and nightclub "Universal", where we placed our "street" exposition. In the Chil-out area of ​​the club, we put a large-scale work of the Kaliningrad artist Jon "Monday-Sunday".

Jon: “In this work, I wanted to show the bustle of the working day, the moment when everyone was in a hurry to work, everyone runs about their business, not noticing anything around me, focused only on their daily problems. The endless stream of people, deliberately the same. Running in place until their death. The same set of thoughts, the same desires, the same dreams, the society determines the stamped consciousness. desires and “say“ no “individuality”-our motto-there are no motto, our motto is not forbidden.

Sergei from the Moscow team Zukclub began his performance with a minute of silence in memory of the Moscow 183 Moscow artist who died on April 1, one of the most extraordinary and talented street artists of Russia. The sad news was a shock for the graffiti community, which first took a message about death as an evil primary joke. Pasha painted on the street for more than 10 years, survived the Graffiti era from its origin to decline, went to street art, and in recent years he did acutely social work on loneliness, compassion, fleeting time, nostalgia and death ... Pasha himself said that Street art is his attempt to make the world a little better. The cause of the artist’s death is still unknown.

After a minute of silence, Sergey gave a lecture on the history of street art-from the New York graffiti of the 60s to modern commercial street art. He talked about the first graffitter of Taki-183 and the emergence of Train-bombing, about the rise and fall of a black street artist-the find of Andy Vorhol, Jean-Michel Baskia, recalled the social street art of everyone beloved Benxi and showed the commercial stencils of Shepard Fairi with the image of President Obama.

According to Sergey, it was Obey who inspired Zukclub them to create street art.

Kaliningrad artist Alexei Medvedev came to graffiti from classical painting. At the request of one advertising agency, Alexei, along with his brother, drew a series of commercial 3D work on asphalt. Thus began his acquaintance with street art. Alexey showed his portfolio and told how to draw voluminous paintings with colorful crayons on the asphalt. But for any drawings - whether it is graffiti or painting on canvas - you need classic drawing skills. He emphasized several times that technically there is nothing complicated in the street art-you can quickly learn everything. But it is important that the artist wants to tell the viewer.

At the end of the evening, we walked with Zukclub around the night city and decorated its walls with a couple of posters.

PS was not without excesses-at the very exhibition to the stencil of the community of Orthodox artists Orthodox Graffiti and Street Art, someone stuck a sticker, and then completely cut into flaps. This work is no longer in the exposition.
