While Putin was visiting an industrial fair in Hannover together with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, activists from the Ukrainian radical feminist movement FEMEN, known for its scandalous actions, broke through the fence. This happened at the Volkswagen stand, where Putin and Merkel stopped. They (not Putin and Merkel, but FEMEN activists) stripped to the waist (apparently, having decided that this was enough for Putin) and began shouting slogans in English, using obscene language. Similar slogans, as reported by RIA Novosti, were written on their bodies. However, judging by photographs on the Internet, one of the activists had a similar slogan written in Russian on her back. And even more specific: if an obscene appeal was written on the chest regarding the nameless dictator, then on the back Putin was directly asked to go in a certain direction. The girls were detained, and Putin and his companion moved on. Some reports say they remained unfazed, but some photographs suggest Putin at least showed interest. Moreover, in one of the photographs he is depicted with two thumbs up. True, then, as Interfax reports, he reacted as follows: “If someone wants to discuss political issues, then it is better to do it while dressed, and not undress. You need to undress in other places.” He also condemned the guards for being too harsh. According to Putin, he knew about the planned action, and he liked it.
Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov has already stated that this is “ordinary hooliganism” that “occurs all over the world, in any city,” and demanded that the perpetrators be punished, Reuters reports.
