The government reassigned the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Russian Post"

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered the transfer of FSUE Russian Post to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications. Previously, the enterprise's activities were managed by Rossvyaz, which recently opposed the ministry's initiative to change the leadership of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise.

Dmitry Medvedev signed government decree No. 528-p on the reassignment of Russian Post to the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications on April 6, as follows from a copy of a document not published in the government database. It also states that the decision must be issued within three months. Press Secretary of the Prime Minister Natalya Timakova confirmed that the corresponding document had been signed.

Representative of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications Ekaterina Osadchaya explained to Kommersant that this order eliminates an additional step in the coordination of all decisions on the activities of Russian Post. “We believe that all strategically important assets should be directly subordinated to improve the quality of management,” she said. The Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications is currently reforming Russian Post and plans to make the Federal State Unitary Enterprise a “distribution network.”

In mid-March, the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications took the initiative to prematurely dismiss the head of Russian Post, Alexander Kiselev, appointing in his place the former head of Tele2 Russia, Dmitry Strashnov. However, Rossvyaz did not find any grounds for early termination of the contract with Mr. Kiselev. On March 29, Vladimir Putin added Russian Post to the list of strategic enterprises, as well as to the list of enterprises whose appointment of managers must be approved by the Kremlin.
